Questions people asked III – The Messiah
Question by the High Priest:
Mark 14:61 “61 But keeping silent, Yeshua did not answer. Again, the kohen gadol questioned Him, “Are you Mashiach, Son of the Blessed One?” TLV
Yeshua answered:
Mark 14:62 “I am,” said Yeshua, “and you shall see ‘the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Powerful One,’ and ‘coming with the clouds of heaven’!” TLV
Yeshua as the Messiah, the coming ruler of Israel, also the son of God was an insult to the leaders of the time of Yeshua because the term “son of Elohim,” meant that Yeshua was saying that He was Elohim, equal in every aspect to Elohim. He was the anointed one.
John 5:18 “So for this reason the Judean leaders kept trying even harder to kill Him—because He was not only breaking Shabbat,] but also calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.” TLV
John 10:33 “The Judean leaders answered, “We aren’t stoning you for a good work, but for blasphemy. Though You are a man, You make Yourself God!” TLV
In John 8:58, Yeshua proclaimed to be the I AM, or I was.
When Elohim was speaking to Moshe in Exodus 3:14, He said “I AM WHO I AM” or “I will be that I will Be”, also meaning to exist, happen to be, in Hebrew “Eyeh Ahser Eye” אֶהְיֶה. Yeshua said the same thing “I was” “הָיִיתִי” also meaning to be, to exist.
Nathanael was told about Yeshua and he said:
John 1:46 “46 “Natzeret!” Nathanael answered. “Can anything good come from there?” LTV
John 1:47-49 “47 Yeshua saw Nathanael coming toward Him. He said, “Look, a true Israelite! There’s nothing false in him.” 48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do you know me?” Yeshua answered, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 “Rabbi,” Nathanael answered, “You are Ben-Elohim! You are the King of Israel!” TLV
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore Adonai Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin] will conceive. When she is giving birth to a son, she will call his name Immanuel.” TLV. Immanuel means “Elohim with us.”
Philip asked Yeshua “Show us the Father,” in John 14:8. Yeshua responded, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.”
Titus 3:2 “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared.” LTV.
Yeshua is the Messiah.
