Questions people ask IV – Forgiveness
Question by Peter:
Matthew 18:21 “Then Peter came to Him and said, “Master, how often shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” TLV
Yeshua Replied:
Matthew 18:22 “Yeshua said to him, “No, not up to seven times, I tell you, but seventy times seven!” TLV
Can you imagine what Peter was going through; someone hurt him, and probably exceeded their actions toward him. Maybe hoping not to deal with this situation anymore, he asked Yeshua for a way out, but Yeshua’s answer probably only confirmed what he already knew. Forgiveness is a lifestyle. We can’t go through this place call earth without someone hurting us, especially those who are dearly close to us. We have to learn how to forgive if we want to learn how to love.
Ephesians 4:32 tells us to be kind to one another, forgiving each other. Furthermore, Yeshua tells us something astonishing:
Matthew 6:14-15 “14 “For if you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” TLV
Even though we were sinners, Yeshua forgives us, and if we are his disciples, we must do as He did.
Forgiving others could be very difficult, but we must choose to love. Yeshua loved us, and the scriptures say:
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, keep your love for one another constant, for “love covers a multitude of sins.” TLV
And indeed, it does, Yeshua forgave all my sins, all your sins, and the sins of all humanity. If we repent of our transgressions, He forgives us. We have to continue to live our lives forgiving others because He said that if we don’t forgive, our heavenly father will not forgive us; therefore, this is something that we continuously do.
Philippians 2:12-13 “Therefore, my loved ones, just as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence but now even more in my absence—work out your salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For the One working in you is God—both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” TLV
What questions do you have?
