Paul said:

Acts 9:5 “Sir, who are you?” 

Yeshua answered “I am Yeshua, and you are persecuting me. ⁶ But get up, and go into the city, and you will be told what you have to do.” CJB

When we are not walking with Yeshua the Messiah, we are persecuting Him, His word, authority, and power.  When we are persecuting His word, then we are against Him and against His people.  Paul while he was persecuting the believers in Yeshua; never thought in his mind that he was persecuting Yeshua himself; he never thought that he was persecuting Elohim and His kingdom people. Paul was blinded by his wrong interpretation of things, blinded by hatred, and blinded by what his thoughts concerning Elohim. Even though, Paul could see, he was blind concerning the truth of the Messiah. After this encounter with Yeshua; Paul believed and became a witness to Yeshua.
