Things People Did – Part 11
Repentance
Luke 7:36-38 “Now one of the Pharisees was asking Yeshua if He would eat with him. Upon entering the Pharisee’s home, He reclined at the table. 37 And behold, a woman in the town who was a sinner, when she discovered that Yeshua was reclining at the Pharisee’s home, brought an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to drench His feet with tears and kept wiping them with her head of hair. Then she was kissing His feet and anointing them with perfume.” TLV
This woman was in sorrow for all the bad things she had done, she came to Yeshua weeping, and sad, but inside of her, she knew of Yeshua’s love and compassion. Later, in the verses, Yeshua mentioned that she knew about love.
We don’t know about the things that happened in this woman’s life; but she was there, willing, repenting, and loving. She demonstrated humbleness, a reminder that we are all sinners. This is what Yeshua was trying to explain to the pharisee and the people that were present, that we are all sinners and we can come to Him in repentance and be accepted, and be free from the burden of sin.
She gave Yeshua, herself, and something that belonged to her, her love and repentance were the anointing oil that reminded Yeshua of His goal and the reason for life.
