Who do you say I am?

Around the world, Yeshua is viewed in different ways, and people have different opinions about who He is. What about you? Who do you say He is? This question confronts us every day as we live our everyday lives. Every time we decide something in our lives, we are faced with this question because we must continuously trust that Yeshua is there for our good. When we are victorious, who do we say Yeshua is? When we are going through trials and tribulations, who do we say He is?

Yeshua asked this question to the disciples:

Matthew 16:13-14 “13 When Yeshua came into the territory around Caesarea Philippi, he asked his talmidim, “Who are people saying the Son of Man is?” 14 They said, “Well, some say Yochanan the Immerser, others Eliyahu, still others Yirmeyahu or one of the prophets.” CJB

The Hindu or Hinduism believe Yeshua is a special holy man and a good teacher

The Buddhist believe Yeshua is a holy man but not God.

Christian Science believes Yeshua is an example. He is not God and did not die for us, etc.

Jehovah’s Witness believes Yeshua is just an angel (Michael, the arc angel).

Mormons believe Yeshua is a created being through relationship (men through pattern of procreation). Brother of satan and equal to satan.

Islam believes that Yeshua is one of many prophets, not the Son of God and not God.

New age believes that Yeshua is just a man who discovers that He can become God.

Transcendental Meditation or Yoga believes that Yeshua did not die and suffered for humanity.

Judaism believes that Yeshua is a false messiah.

Yet others during Yeshua’s time believed that Yeshua was Meshugga (crazy). Others thought that He was a false teacher. Some believed that he had a demon. Some thought that He was a dreamer.

But when talking to His disciples, he asked

Matthew: 16:15-16 “15 “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say I am?” 16 Shim ‘on Kefa answered, “You are the Mashiach, the Son of the living God.” CJB

Who do you say that I am?

The woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years and was healed believed and trusted in Yeshua. Mark 5

The leader of the synagogue, Jairo, whose daughter had died, believed and trusted in Yeshua, resulting in his twelve-year-old daughter waking up. Mark 5

Who do you say that I am? Isaiah wrote about Yeshua:

Isaiah 43:10-11 “You are my witnesses,” says Adonai, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you can know and trust me and understand that I am he no god was produced before me, nor will any be after me. 11 I, yes I, am Adonai; besides me, there is no deliverer.” CJB

Who do you say that I am? Moshe, even though he was afraid, believed, and followed the Lord and believed in Yeshua when he said:

Deuteronomy 18:15 “15 “Adonai will raise up for you a prophet like me from among yourselves, from your own kinsmen. You are to pay attention to him,” CJB

John 5:45-46 “45 “But don’t think that it is I who will be your accuser before the Father. Do you know who will accuse you? Moshe, the very one you have counted on! 46 For if you really believed Moshe, you would believe me; because it was about me that he wrote. 47 But if you don’t believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?” CJB

Who do you say that I am? Martha thought Yeshua was the Messiah the Son of God

John 11:27 “27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.” CJB

Who do you say that I am? Thomas thought Yeshua was God

John 20:28 “28 T’oma answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

Who do you say that I am? Peter thought Yeshua was God.

2 Peter 1:1 “From: Shim ‘on Kefa, a slave and emissary of Yeshua the Messiah To: Those who, through the righteousness of our God and of our Deliverer Yeshua the Messiah, have been given the same kind of trust as ours:” CJB

Who do you say that I am? Paul thought Yeshua was God.

Titus 2:13 “13 while continuing to expect the blessed fulfillment of our certain hope, which is the appearing of the Sh’khinah of our great God and the appearing of our Deliverer, Yeshua the Messiah.” CJB

Who do you say that I am? John thought Yeshua was God.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” CJB

How about Yeshua himself: Who do you say that I am? Yeshua’s answers

John 8:58 “58 Yeshua said to them, “Yes, indeed! Before Avraham came into being, I AM!” CJB

John 10:30 “I and the Father are one.” CJB

John 4:25-26 “25 The woman replied, “I know that Mashiach is coming” (that is, “the one who has been anointed”). “When he comes, he will tell us everything.” 26 Yeshua said to her, “I, the person speaking to you, am he.” CJB

Mark 14:61-62 “61 But he remained silent and made no reply. Again the cohen hagadol questioned him: “Are you the Mashiach, Ben-HaM’ vorakh?” 62 “I AM,” answered Yeshua. “Moreover, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of HaG’ vurah and coming on the clouds of heaven.” CJB

John 11:25 “25 Yeshua said to her, “I AM the Resurrection and the Life! Whoever puts his trust in me will live, even if he dies;” CJB

Revelation 22:12 “12 “Pay attention!” [says Yeshua,] “I am coming soon, and my rewards are with me to give to each person according to what he has done. 13 I am the ‘A’ and the ‘Z,’ the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” CJB

Who does God say Yeshua is? God says that Yeshua is God

Hebrews 1:8 “8 but to the Son, he says, “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever; you rule your Kingdom with a scepter of equity; 9 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you with the oil of joy in preference to your companions” CJB

How about you? Who do you say Yeshua is?

Who do you say that Yeshua is in your life?

Around the world, people have a choice to believe in Yeshua and have eternal life or to not believe and have judgment. Let’s choose life.
