Promises when we are Obedient
Yeshua came while we were sinners and gave His life so that we may live and have abundant life. As we live in this world of tribulation, battles, and distractions that take us away from the abundant living of God, God is reminding us that when we come into the land that He promises to us, there are some things that we must remember and follow:
One of these things is Obedience:
The book of Deva rim, as well as Leviticus, is a constant reminder of Obedience and what will happen to us if we decide to be disobedient. It is a choice that is continually put in front of us every day.
God repeats His blessings and curses from Leviticus 26:14-46 and Deuteronomy 28:16-68.
Think about the blessings and the curses. There are 49 curses in Leviticus, and God gave us these curses just before a significant Appointed Time of Shavuot. There are 98 curses in Deuteronomy 28, twice as many before the important Appointed time of Yom Teruah. Why do you think He gives us these curses or warnings? These are warnings to wake us up and get our attention, to say listen to me. These warnings or curses are a blessing in our lives because, without them, we would not know right from wrong. The Torah, which means teachings, instructions are God’s way of telling us this is how to live a good life.
Before Yeshua, we did not have a choice for LIFE; we had death.
Isaiah 2:3-4 “Many peoples will go and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of Adonai, to the house of the God of Ya‘akov! He will teach us about his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For out of Tziyon will go forth Torah, the word of Adonai from Yerushalayim. 4 He will judge between the nations and arbitrate for many peoples. Then they will hammer their swords into plow-blades and their spears into pruning-knives; nations will not raise swords at each other, and they will no longer learn war.” CJB
We, a wicked people, have been given something that can cleanse us; a mare word cannot cleanse us in itself; we need a supernatural power from outside of us to come to reside inside of us so we can live out Torah.
Job 14:4 “Who can bring what is pure from something impure? No one!” CJB
Just Yeshua. Yeshua wants us to abide in Him.
John 15:4 “4 Stay united with me, as I will with you for just as the branch can’t put forth fruit by itself apart from the vine, so you can’t bear fruit apart from me.” CJB
Deuteronomy 26:9 “9 Now he has brought us to this place and given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 Therefore, as you see, I have now brought the firstfruits of the land which you, Adonai, have given me.’ You are then to put the basket down before Adonai your God, prostrate yourself before Adonai your God, 11, and take joy in all the good that Adonai your God has given you, your household, the Levi and the foreigner living with you.” CJB
Think about it; honey comes from bees. Bees are not kosher; however, honey is kosher. God took something, not kosher, and made something kosher come out of it. If we obey the commandments of God, when we abide in Yeshua, He makes honey come out of us when we are obedient.
Think about milk, it is kosher, and it comes out of a cow which He deems kosher. Milk is like the word of God, which we need to grow in His Obedience.
1 Peter 2:2 “2 and be like newborn babies, thirsty for the pure milk of the Word; so that by it, you may grow up into deliverance. 3 For you have tasted that Adonai is good.” CJB
1 Corinthians 3:1-2 “As for me, brothers, I couldn’t talk to you as spiritual people but as worldly people, as babies, so far as experience with the Messiah is concerned. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, because you were not yet ready for it. But you aren’t ready for it now either!” CJB
God is giving us a gift when He warns us: It is not a curse; it is a blessing. If we hear his word, we will have benefits beyond our understanding. He intends to raise us.
Amos 9:11-15 “When that day comes, I will raise up the fallen sukkah of David. I will close up its gaps, raise up its ruins and rebuild it as it used to be, 12 so that Isra’el can possess what is left of Edom and of all the nations bearing my name,” says Adonai, who is doing this. 13 “The days will come,” says Adonai, “when the plowman will overtake the reaper and the one treading grapes the one sowing seed. Sweet wine will drip down the mountains, and all the hills will flow with it. 14 I will restore the fortunes of my people Isra’el; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities; they will plant vineyards and drink their wine, cultivate gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant them on their own soil, no more to be uprooted from their land, which I gave them,” says Adonai your God.” CJB
Yeshua’s Blessings
Salvation
Deuteronomy 32:15 “But Yeshurun grew fat and kicked (you grew fat, thick, gross!). He abandoned God his Maker; he scorned the Rock, his salvation.” CJB
1 Peter 2:4-8 “4 As you come to him, the living stone, rejected by people but chosen by God and precious to him, 5 you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be cohanim set apart for God to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to him through Yeshua the Messiah. 6 This is why the Tanakh says, “Look! I am laying in Tziyon a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and whoever rests his trust on it will certainly not be humiliated.” 7 Now to you who keep trusting, he is precious. But to those who are not trusting, “The very stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone”; 8 also he is a stone that will make people stumble, a rock over which they will trip. They are stumbling at the Word, disobeying it as had been planned.” CJB
Purity
Deuteronomy 32:4 “The Rock! His work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A trustworthy God who does no wrong, he is righteous and straight.” CJB
His word gives us wisdom
Deuteronomy 32:6 “You foolish people, so lacking in wisdom, is this how you repay Adonai? He is your father, who made you his! It was he who formed and prepared you!” CJB
Deuteronomy 32:29 “If they were wise, they could figure it out and understand their destiny.” CJB
We are His inheritance
Deuteronomy 32:9 “but Adonai’s share was his own people, Ya‘akov his allotted heritage.” CJB
Love
Isaiah 43:3-4 “For I am Adonai, your God, the Holy One of Isra’el, your Savior I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and S’va for you. 4 Because I regard you as valued and honored, and because I love you. For you I will give people, nations in exchange for your life.” CJB
1 Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to Adonai; for he is good, for his grace continues forever.” CJB
Psalm 100:5 “For Adonai is good, his grace continues forever, and his faithfulness lasts through all generations.” CJB
Shalom
John 14:27 “27 “What I am leaving with you is shalom I am giving you my shalom. I don’t give the way the world gives. Don’t let yourselves be upset or frightened.” CJB
Leviticus 26:6-13 “6 “‘I will give shalom in the land — you will lie down to sleep unafraid of anyone. I will rid the land of wild animals. The sword will not go through your land. 7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before your sword. 8 Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand — your enemies will fall before your sword. 9 “‘I will turn toward you, make you productive, increase your numbers and uphold my covenant with you. (RY: v, LY: iii) 10 You will eat all you want from last year’s harvest and throw out what remains of the old to make room for the new. 11 I will put my tabernacle among you, and I will not reject you, 12 but I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. 13 I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, so that you would not be their slaves. I have broken the bars of your yoke, so that you can walk upright.” CJB
Eternal Life/ Security
John 10:10 “10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, life in its fullest measure.” CJB
John 10:28 “28 and I give them eternal life. They will absolutely never be destroyed, and no one will snatch them from my hands.” CJB
Protection
Deuteronomy 32:10 “He found his people in desert country, in a howling, wasted wilderness. He protected him and cared for him, guarded him like the pupil of his eye,” CJB
Psalms 121
Nahum 1:7 “Adonai is good, a stronghold in time of trouble; he takes care of those who take refuge in him.” CJB
Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through water, I will be with you; when you pass through rivers, they will not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you will not be scorched the flame will not burn you.” CJB
Provision
Deuteronomy 32:13-14 “13 He made them ride on the heights of the earth. They ate the produce of the fields. He had them suck honey from the rocks and olive oil from the crags, 14 curds from the cows and milk from the sheep, with lamb fat, rams from Bashan and goats, with the finest wheat flour; and you drank sparkling wine from the blood of grapes.” CJB
Yeshua suffered so that we can have all these blessings and Life.
Think about Masada and the Jews who died because they did not want to be slaves of Rome. Would you take your own life and not suffer the injustices of life and not remain a people or will you live and suffer the injustices of life and be a people? Chose LIFE is that not what Moshe said:
Deuteronomy 32:47 “47 For this is not a trivial matter for you; on the contrary, it is your life! Through it you will live long in the land you are crossing the Yarden to possess.” CJB
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 “19 “I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants, 20 loving Adonai your God, paying attention to what he says and clinging to him for that is the purpose of your life! On this depends the length of time you will live in the land Adonai swore he would give to your ancestors Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya‘akov.” CJB
Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 ““If you listen closely to what Adonai your God says, observing and obeying all his mitzvot which I am giving you today, Adonai your God will raise you high above all the nations on earth; 2 and all the following blessings will be yours in abundance if you will do what Adonai your God says: 3 “A blessing on you in the city, and a blessing on you in the countryside. 4 “A blessing on the fruit of your body, the fruit of your land and the fruit of your livestock — the young of your cattle and flocks. 5 “A blessing on your grain-basket and kneading-bowl. 6 “A blessing on you when you go out, and a blessing on you when you come in. 7 “Adonai will cause your enemies attacking you to be defeated before you; they will advance on you one way and flee before you seven ways. 8 “Adonai will order a blessing to be with you in your barns and in everything you undertake; he will bless you in the land Adonai your God is giving you. 9 “Adonai will establish you as a people separated out for himself, as he has sworn to you — if you will observe the mitzvot of Adonai your God and follow his ways. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that Adonai’s name, his presence, is with you; so that they will be afraid of you. 11 “Adonai will give you great abundance of good things — of the fruit of your body, the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your land in the land Adonai swore to your ancestors to give you. 12 Adonai will open for you his good treasure, the sky, to give your land its rain at the right seasons and to bless everything you undertake. You will lend to many nations and not borrow; 13 Adonai will make you the head and not the tail; and you will be only above, never below — if you will listen to, observe and obey the mitzvot of Adonai your God 14 and not turn away from any of the words I am ordering you today, neither to the right nor to the left, to follow after other gods and serve them.” CJB
Will you choose LIFE today?
