Are We Standing For Righteousness or Unrighteousness?
Shalom. Are we standing for righteousness or unrighteousness? At some point in our lives, we were standing for unrighteousness. We were walking in the ways of disobedience and death.
We can see this behavior in the life of Ahithophel, a counselor in the courts of David. He was considered such a great counselor that his counsel was considered as if a man had inquired of God in 2 Samuel 16 23. However, one day he decided to live a life, the life of unrighteousness and live a life of unrighteousness.
He went to the side of Absalom, David’s son, who was trying to overrule his father’s kingdom. He decided to go against David’s kingdom and try to remove him by putting Absalom as king. Is this not what Satan is trying to do and getting people in his sight, in the side of unrighteousness? Ahithophel advised Absalom to go have relations with his father’s concubines, which David had left behind when he left the palace in Jerusalem to go in hiding.
Ahithophel advised him to do this so all Israel will know about it and Absalom shamed himself in such manner in 2 Samuel 16 22. Ahithophel further counseled Absalom to pursue David, his father, and kill him. However, Absalom sought the advice of another person.
He sought the advice of Hushai, the archite, concerning what Ahithophel had said, but Joshua advised against it because he told Absalom that David and his men were experts at war. Absalom took the advice of Hushai in 2 Samuel chapter 17. So when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he went home, put his house in order, and hung himself.
What happened to these men? Why did he decide to go from righteous being in the courts of David to unrighteousness behavior following after Absalom? His behavior cost him his life. Living in weakness led to a life of deception and death. He taught Ron in trying to go against God.
He taught Ron trying to pursue and kill a child of God. He taught Ron choosing Absalom as leader. And he taught Ron in murdering himself by hanging himself.
The scriptures tells us that no one will escape the judgment of God and that the wicked will die. So Ahithophel died. In Proverbs 34, 21, affliction will slay the wicked and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
The scriptures tells us in Romans 6, 23, that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Yeshua the Messiah. Each one of us need to consider our ways and repent today of any unrighteous behaviors. Turn to God for he is a forgiving God who loves us.
He paid the price so we can have life. Would you consider his great counsel today? Abba Father, we thank you for your words. We thank you that you have given your son Yeshua the Messiah, that he came and he gave his blood for us so that we can have life and have life more abundantly.
Help us Lord to live a life of righteousness because you have set us apart so we can live a life that is glorious for the kingdom of God. We thank you Father and we bless you in the name of Yeshua Hamashiach. God bless you.
Shalom and may the Lord bless you.
