Five Treasures To Think About
Yeshua tells us in His word, “35 Yeshua answered, ‘I am the bread that is life! He who comes to me will never hunger, and he who trusts in me will never thirst.” John 6:35 (CJB)
These treasures of love and encouragement are embedded throughout Scripture. What five nuggets does God have for you today?
Treasure 1: Praying with Boldness and Security
There was one man who gave a simple prayer. We don’t know anything else about this man, but his prayer is recorded in the most important book in the world, the Bible. His name was Jabez. What was so impressive about his prayer that moved God to grant his request?
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 “9 Ya’betz was honored more than his brothers; his mother named him Ya’betz, she explained, “because I carried him in pain.” 10 Ya’betz called on the God of Israel: “Please bless me by expanding my territory.” May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm, so that I do not cause pain. “God accepted his request.” (CJB)
- Jabez was an honorable man.
- He recognized God as the giver of all things.
Matthew 6:9-10 “Our Father in heaven! May your name be sanctified.” (CJB)
- Jabez allowed God to be in total control of his life. He asked God for his hand to be with him.
Matthew 6:10 “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (CJB)
- Jabez made a very specific prayer: “Please bless me by expanding my territory.”
Matthew 6:11-13 “Give us the food we need today. 12 Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we have forgiven those who have done us wrong. 13 And do not lead us into difficult trials, but keep us safe from the Wicked One. For the monarchy, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.” (CJB)
We must remember to be transparent with God. He knows our heart and can discern if we are asking for something out of pride.
Treasure 2: The Future
Scripture tells us that one day God will return. There are books that we should be thinking about.
The books (Perhaps of judgment) (vsapharim or וּסְפָרִים means the books)
Revelation 20:12 “12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. Books were opened; and another book was opened… (CJB)
Revelation 20:13 “13 The sea delivered the dead into it; and Death and Shol delivered the dead into them; and they were judged, every man according to what he had done. (CJB)
The Book of Life
Revelation 20:12 “… and another book, the Book of Life, was opened; and the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. (CJB)
Revelation 21:27 “27 Nothing unclean can enter into it, nor anyone who does shame or lies; the only ones who can enter are those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (CJB)
A book of memory (Zicharon or זיכרון means memory, remembrance)
Malachi 3:16 “Then those who fear YAHWEH spoke together; and YAHWEH listened and listened. A record book was written in his presence for those who feared ADONAI and had respect for his name. (CJB)
A book or record of a person’s life
Psalm 56:8 “9 (8) You have kept an account of my wanderings; Keep my tears in your skin of water, are they not already recorded in your book? (CJB)
Psalm 139:16 “Your eyes could see me as an embryo, but in your book all my days were already written; My days had been formed before any of them existed. (CJB)
Other books or scrolls
Isaiah 30:8 “Now go, write it on a tablet, write it on a scroll, so that the last day may be a witness forever and ever” (CJB)
Revelation 1:11 “What you see, write in a book and send to the seven congregations: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.” (WEB)
Habakkuk 2:2 “Then YAHWEH answered me; he said, ‘Write the vision clearly on the tablets, so that even a runner can read it.'” (CJB)
Jeremiah 30:2-3 “2 ‘This is what YAHWEH the Elohim of Israel says: “Write down all the words that I have spoken to you on a scroll. 3 For the day will come,” says YAHWEH, “when I will reverse the exile of my people Israel and Yahudah,” says YAHWEH. I will bring them back to the land I gave to their ancestors, and they will take possession of it.” (CJB)
Romans 15:4 “4 For everything written in the past was written to teach us, that with the breath of the Tanakh we might hold patiently to our hope.” (CJB)
Treasure 3: You Can Take Your Case to God
Ezekiel 4:9-14 “9” Take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and buckwheat; put them together in a bowl; and make bread of it. As long as you stand on your side, 390 days, this is what you should eat. 10 Every day, the food you eat should weigh only three-quarters of a pound; You can eat it from time to time [during the day]. 11 You should also drink a limited amount of water, two-thirds of a quart; You can drink it from time to time [during the day]. 12 [The bread] you eat should be baked like barley cakes; You have to bake it in front of their eyes, using human manure as fuel. 13 YAHWEH said, “This is how the people of Israel will eat their food, unclean, in the nations where I lead them.” 14 He objected: ‘No, Adonai, Elohim! I never defiled myself, from my youth until now I have never eaten anything that has died alone or been killed by wild animals; No food so disgusting has ever entered my mouth. “15 He answered, ‘Very well, I will give you cow dung to use instead of human dung, and you may prepare your bread on it.'” (CJB)
Treasure 4: New Name
Maybe this name contains the name of God or maybe this name is what we overcome in our lives on earth or it could even suggest the characteristics of God.
Revelation 2:17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the congregations.” To him that overcometh, to him will I give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no one knows, except he who receives it. “(WEB)
Can the name be integrity, honesty, obedience, or perseverance?
What do you imagine your name can be from your life’s experiences?
Revelation 3:12 “11 I am coming quickly; hold fast to what you have, so that no one will take your crown from you. 12 I will make the one who wins the victory a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never abandon him. I will also write upon it the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Yerushalayim coming down from the heaven of my God, and my own new name. (CJB)
Treasure 5: The Bank Account We Don’t See
Matthew 17:24-27 “24 When they came to Kfar-Nachum, the collectors of the half-shekel came to Kefa and said, ‘Does not your rabbi pay the Temple tax?’ “Of course I do.” Kefa said. When he got home, Yeshua spoke first. ‘Shim’on, what is your opinion? The kings of the earth: from whom do they collect taxes and duties? Of his children or of others? “26” Of the others, he replied. So,’ Yeshua said, ‘children are exempt. 27 But to avoid offending them, go to the lake, throw a rope, and take the first fish you catch. Open his mouth, and you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to me and you.” (CJB)
God has treasures for us everywhere. We must constantly seek them out and trust that He will provide for all our needs.
May the Lord Yeshua bless you.
