Five Nuggets to Think About
Yeshua tell us in His word, “35 Yeshua answered, ‘I am the bread which is life! Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever trusts in me will never be thirsty.’” John 6:35 (CJB)
These treasures of love and encouragement (or nuggets) are embedded throughout the scriptures. What five nuggets does He have for you today?
Nugget 1: Praying with Boldness and Security
There was a man who gave a simple prayer. We do not know anything else about this man but that his prayer is recorded in the most important book in the world, the bible. His name was Jabez. What was so impressive about his prayer that moved God to grant his request?
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 “9 Ya‘betz was honored more than his brothers; his mother called him Ya‘betz, she explained, ‘because I bore him in pain.’ 10 Ya‘betz called on the God of Isra’el: ‘Please bless me by enlarging my territory. May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm, so that it will not cause me pain.’ God granted his request.” (CJB)
- Jabez was an honorable man.
- He recognized God as the giver of all things.
Matthew 6:9-10 “Our Father in heaven! May your Name be kept holy.” (CJB)
3: Jabez allowed God to have total control of his life. He asked God for his hand to be with Him.
Matthew 6:10 “May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.” (CJB)
- Jabez gave very specific prayer: “Bless him, enlarge his territory, keep him from harm, free of pain.”
Matthew 6:11-13 “Give us the food we need today. 12 Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us. 13 And do not lead us into hard testing but keep us safe from the Evil One. For kingship, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.” (CJB)
We must remember to be transparent with God. He knows our heart and can discern if we are asking for something out of pride.
Nugget 2: The Future
Scripture tells us that one day God will return. It tells us that there are books that we need to be thinking about.
The Books (Maybe of Judgement) (vsapharim or וּסְפָרִים means the books)
Revelation 20:12 “12 And I saw the dead, both great and small, standing in front of the throne. Books were opened; and another book was opened…” (CJB)
Revelation 20:13 “13 The sea gave up the dead in it; and Death and Sh’ol gave up the dead in them; and they were judged, each according to what he had done.” (CJB)
The Book of Life
Revelation 20:12 “…and another book was opened, the Book of Life; and the dead were judged from what was written in the books, according to what they had done.” (CJB)
Revelation 21:27 “27 Nothing impure may enter it, nor anyone who does shameful things or lies; the only ones who may enter are those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” (CJB)
A Book of Memory (Zicharon or זיכרון means memory, remembrance)
Malachi 3:16 “Then those who feared Adonai spoke together; and Adonai listened and heard. A record book was written in his presence for those who feared Adonai and had respect for his name.” (CJB)
A Book or Record of a Person’s Life
Psalms 56:8 “9(8) You have kept count of my wanderings;
store my tears in your water-skin – aren’t they already recorded in your book?” (CJB)
Psalms 139:16 “Your eyes could see me as an embryo, but in your book all my days were already written; my days had been shaped before any of them existed.” (CJB)
Other Books or Scrolls
Isaiah 30:8 “Now go, inscribe it on a tablet, write it for them in a scroll, so that on the final day it will be a witness forever and ever.” (CJB)
Revelation 1:11 “What you see, write in a book and send to the seven assemblies: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.” (WEB)
Habakkuk 2:2 “Then Adonai answered me; he said, ‘Write down the vision clearly on tablets, so that even a runner can read it.’” (CJB)
Jeremiah 30:2-3 “2 ‘This is what Adonai the God of Isra’el says: “Write all the words I have spoken to you in a scroll. 3 For the day is coming,” says Adonai, “when I will reverse the exile of my people Isra’el and Y’hudah,” says Adonai. “I will cause them to return to the land I gave their ancestors, and they will take possession of it.” (CJB)
Romans 15:4 “4 For everything written in the past was written to teach us, so that with the encouragement of the Tanakh we might patiently hold on to our hope.” (CJB)
Nugget 3: You Can Bring Your Case to God
Ezekiel 4:9-14 “9 ‘Take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and buckwheat; put them together in one bowl; and make bread from it. For as long as you lie on your side, 390 days, this is what you are to eat. 10 Each day the food you eat must weigh only three-quarters of a pound; you may eat it from time to time [during the day]. 11 You are also to drink a limited amount of water, two-thirds of a quart; you may drink it from time to time [during the day]. 12 [The bread] you eat is to be baked like barley cakes; you are to bake it before their eyes, using human dung as fuel.’ 13 Adonai said, ‘This is how the people of Isra’el will eat their food — unclean — in the nations where I am driving them.’ 14 I objected: ‘No, Adonai Elohim! I have never defiled myself — from my youth until now I have never eaten anything that died by itself or was killed by wild animals; no such disgusting food has ever entered my mouth.’ 15 He answered, ‘All right, I will give you cow dung to use instead of human dung, and you can prepare your bread on it.’” (CJB)
4: New Name
Maybe this name holds the name of God or perhaps this name is what we surpass in our lives on earth or could even suggest the characteristics of God.
Revelation 2:17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows but he who receives it.” (WEB)
Can the name be integrity, honesty, obedience, or perseverance?
What would you imagine your name to be from your life experiences?
Revelation 3:12 “11 I am coming soon; hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. 12 I will make him who wins the victory a pillar in the Temple of my God, and he will never leave it. Also I will write on him the name of my God and the name of my God’s city, the new Yerushalayim coming down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.” (CJB)
Nugget 5: The Bank Account We Do Not See
Matthew 17:24-27 “24 When they came to K’far-Nachum, the collectors of the half-shekelcame to Kefa and said, ‘Doesn’t your rabbi pay the Temple tax?’ 25 ‘Of course he does,’ said Kefa. When he arrived home, Yeshua spoke first. ‘Shim‘on, what’s your opinion? The kings of the earth — from whom do they collect duties and taxes? From their sons or from others?’ 26 ‘From others,’ he answered. ‘Then,’ said Yeshua, ‘The sons are exempt. 27 But to avoid offending them — go to the lake, throw out a line, and take the first fish you catch. Open its mouth, and you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to them for me and for you.’” (CJB)
God has treasures for us everywhere. We must constantly look for them and trust that He will supply all of our needs.
May the Lord Yeshua bless you.
