Part 10 – The Laver
The laver was a special place of washing that was used for cleansing.
The laver was there for the priest to washed before they entered the holy place. It was located after the altar of burnt offering. There in the altar, we learned that it was the place of humbleness and responsibility of admission of sin; therefore, acknowledging that we need someone outside of ourselves for cleansing and purification. Yeshua is the only one that provides redemption of sin.
The laver was made with mirrors. The priests were able to see themselves while they washed. A reflection of cleansing, transparency of purity that can only come after the altar of burnt offering or repentance. The mirrors would expose any dirt. Any evil intention from the heart.
Exodus 38:8 “8 He made the basin of bronze with its base of bronze from the mirrors of the women serving at the entrance to the tent of meeting.” CJB
When we think about Aaron and his sons, the first time they were washed by water was by someone else.
Exodus 29:4 “Bring Aharon and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting, and wash them with water.” CJB
The same is with all humanity, we need someone else to wash us from all impurity.
Why did they wash? To not die.
Exodus 30:17-21 “17 ADONAI said to Moshe, 18 “You are to make a basin of bronze, with a base of bronze, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. 19 Aharon and his sons will wash their hands and feet there 20 when they enter the tent of meeting they are to wash with water so that they won’t die. Also when they approach the altar to minister by burning an offering for ADONAI, 21 they are to wash their hands and feet, so that they won’t die. This is to be a perpetual law for them through all their generations.” CJB
As you can read, it is a rule that stands for all times, so in order to enter the Kingdom of Elohim, one must be purified and cleanse.
