Things People Did

Part 6 – The Secret is Out

Matthew 27:57-61 “Now when it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had also become a disciple of Yeshua. 58 This man went to Pilate and asked for Yeshua’s body. Then Pilate ordered it to be given up. 59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth. 60 And he laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. Then he rolled a large stone up to the door of the tomb and went away.” TLV

Joseph believed in Yeshua in secret, but when it came time to do something for the kingdom of Elohim, Joseph’s secret was no longer a secret when he went boldly to Pilate and asked for Yeshua’s body in Mark 15:43.

Yes, Joseph proclaimed his trust in Yeshua when he didn’t care about people’s thoughts.  Luke 23:50, tells us that Joseph was a council member and that he was not in agreement with the actions of his peers.  It further tells us that he was a good and righteous man.

Joseph’s actions took courage, up to this point; his peers probably knew about his disagreement concerning Yeshua of Nazareth, but he went to Pilate, took the body from the stake, wrapped his body in a linen cloth, and laid Yeshua in a brand-new tomb. Sure, this news reached his peers but Joseph could care less.  Yeshua was number one in his life.

Way to go Joseph.

Joseph was well known, and he used his position in combination with his intelligence and well-spoken words to bravely do something honorable.

Fear did not deter him.
