First Fruits
What Is First Fruit?
It is referred to as the day that Yeshua rose from death. Yeshua is the first person who conquered death; therefore, He is the first fruit and the first harvest. He is the one that was able to gain the victory over the bondage and plague of death.
During the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, the Egyptians experienced a series of plagues because of the disobedience of Pharaoh.
The plagues water turned to blood, frogs, lice, flies, diseased livestock, boils, hail/fire, locusts, darkness for three days, and the death of the first son. Their lives were turned upside down because of Pharaoh’s disobedience many died.
The same is now with the plague of death that will happen sooner or later to each one of us physically and spiritually.
But there came a rescue principle that overcomes all which is LOVE.
1 John 4:14 “Moreover, we have seen and we testify that the Father has sent his Son as Deliverer of the world.” CJB
Why? Because of Love.
John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through him, the world might be saved. 18 Those who trust in him are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already, in that they have not trusted in the one who is God’s only and unique Son.” CJB
There is the one who has been disobedient and entices all to sin. Sin is rebellion against Elohim. It is going against the will and character of Elohim. Sin is the opposite of holiness and Elohim is holy. All impurity and evil are sins.
1 John 3:8 “The person who keeps on sinning is from the Adversary because from the very beginning the Adversary has kept on sinning. It was for this very reason that the Son of God appeared, to destroy these doings of the Adversary.
Yeshua destroyed the works of sin by dying for our sins and giving us forgiveness and purification.
If we trust in Him there is life but if we don’t trust in Him, there is death.
Since He conquered death sin and death were conquered and His victory became the first harvest of victory over death. All who believe in Him have the same destiny.
First is celebrated on the day after the weekly Shabbat. There is Passover, the day Yeshua died on Abib 14 (March/late April/early May.) Then the Appointed times of Unleavened Bread from Abib 15 to Abib 21 and the Appointed Time of First Fruits.
Many recognize First Fruits as Resurrection Day; however, please keep in mind that Yeshua resurrected on a Shabbat or Saturday afternoon and left the tomb sometime in the evening of Saturday. By the time the ladies went to the tomb, Yeshua was not there. Therefore, Resurrection Day is really on Saturday because the scriptures mention the first day of the week as the First Fruits or the harvest.
John 20:1 “Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Miryam from Magdala went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.” CJB
There is something very special that happens during The Feast of First Fruits and is that after Yeshua died and was resurrected, on Sunday He had a job to do and it was to wave the sheaf so that the sheaf could be accepted by Elohim. The sheaf being people/humanity.
Leviticus 23:11 “He is to wave the sheaf before Adonai so that you will be accepted; the cohen is to wave it on the day after the Shabbat. “ CJB
