Yom Kippur in the New Covenant

Leviticus 16:29 “ “It is to be a permanent regulation for you that on the tenth day of the seventh month you are to deny yourselves and not do any kind of work, both the citizen and the foreigner living with you. 30 For on this day, atonement will be made for you to purify you; you will be clean before Adonai from all your sins. 31 It is a Shabbat of complete rest for you, and you are to deny yourselves.” CJB

Colossians 2:17 “These are a shadow of things that are coming, but the body is of the Messiah.” CJB

Yom Kippur is about cleansing and purification.  In the Old Testament it was pointing to the things to come, being Yeshua the Messiah.  Aaron served as the High Priest going to the holy of holies once a year to purify himself, the people of Israel, the tabernacle and everything was purified with the blood. It was continuous year after year but Yeshua came and fulfilled the role of the high priest without a blemish.

Yeshua, the perfect high priest who entered heaven and cleanse everything.

Hebrews 4:14-15 “Therefore, since we have a great cohen gadol who has passed through to the highest heaven, Yeshua, the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we acknowledge as true. 15 For we do not have a cohen gadol unable to empathize with our weaknesses; since in every respect he was tempted just as we are, the only difference being that he did not sin. 16 Therefore, let us confidently approach the throne from which God gives grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.” CJB

Yeshua – The Perfect Tent

Hebrews 9:11 “But when the Messiah appeared as cohen gadol of the good things that are happening already, then, through the greater and more perfect Tent which is not man-made (that is, it is not of this created world), 12 he entered the Holiest Place once and for all.” CJB

Yeshua – The Perfect Blood sacrificed

Hebrews 9:12-14 “…And he entered not by means of the blood of goats and calves, but by means of his own blood, thus setting people free forever. 13 For if sprinkling ceremonially unclean persons with the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer restores their outward purity; 14 then how much more the blood of the Messiah, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself to God as a sacrifice without blemish, will purify our conscience from works that lead to death, so that we can serve the living God!” CJB

Yeshua – The will document of Life after the death

Hebrews 9:15-17 “It is because of this death that he is mediator of a new covenant [or will].[a] Because a death has occurred which sets people free from the transgressions committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promised eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a will, there must necessarily be produced evidence of its maker’s death, 17 since a will goes into effect only upon death; it never has force while its maker is still alive.” CJB

The Coming of the Messiah Yeshua Ordained

Hebrews 9:20 “, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has ordained for you.” CJB

Forgiveness of sins through Yeshua the High Priest

Hebrews 9:21 “ Likewise, he sprinkled with the blood both the Tent and all the things used in its ceremonies. 22 In fact, according to the Torah, almost everything is purified with blood; indeed, without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” CJB

Yeshua – The High Priest is returning

Acts 1:11 “The men said, “You Galileans! Why are you standing, staring into space? This Yeshua, who has been taken away from you into heaven, will come back to you in just the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” CJB

Through Yeshua we can Approach the Holiest Place/heaven

Hebrews 10:19-20 “ So, brothers, we have confidence to use the way into the Holiest Place opened by the blood of Yeshua. 20 He inaugurated it for us as a new and living way through the parokhet, by means of his flesh. 21 We also have a great cohen over God’s household.” CJB

Yeshua is our covering

1 John 2:2 Also, he is the kapparah for our sins — and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.” CJB

Difference between Passover and Yom Kippur

Passover Yeshua forgave sins. Yom Kippur Yeshua purify and cleans everything.

Passover He was crushed for our sins. During Yom Kippur He healed us or cleans us from death.

During Passover He came as a humble lamb.  During Yom Kippur, He comes to judge.

Hebrews 9:28 “ so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,[c] will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to deliver those who are eagerly waiting for him.” CJB

Yom Kippur in Other Places in the New Covenant

Romans 3:25 “God put Yeshua forward as the kapparah for sin through his faithfulness in respect to his bloody sacrificial death. This vindicated God’s righteousness; because, in his forbearance, he had passed over [with neither punishment nor remission] the sins people had committed in the past; 26 and it vindicates his righteousness in the present age by showing that he is righteous himself and is also the one who makes people righteous on the ground of Yeshua’s faithfulness.” CJB

The disciples celebrated Yom Kippur

Acts 27:9 “Since much time had been lost, and continuing the voyage was risky, because it was already past Yom-Kippur, Sha’ul advised them,” CJB

Psalms 32:1 “How blessed are those whose offense is forgiven, those whose sin is covered!” CJB

Yom Kippur brings the cleansing separation between righteous and unrighteus.  The book of life will be open and judgement will bring justice.

Reminder during Yom Kippur day not work, Fast, if possible, Congregate, pray.
