Only Blessings
2 Samuel 6:11-12 “11 The ark of Adonai stayed in the house of ‘Oved-Edom the Gitti for three months; and Adonai blessed ‘Oved-Edom and all his household. 12 King David was told, “Adonai has blessed the house of ‘Oved-Edom and everyone who belongs to him, thanks to the ark of God.” So, David went and joyously brought the ark of God up from the house of ‘Oved-Edom into the City of David.” CJB
The Ark of God was inside Oved’s home; just like Yeshua wants to be inside of us; inside our hearts, minds, thoughts, behaviors, actions.
When we take Yeshua into our lives, we are blessed without measure, and even though sometimes there may be trouble and tribulation, having Him in our lives outweigh any circumstances.
David knew the blessings of God were beyond anything one can ever imagen and he wanted it. He knew that shalom, wisdom, salvation, protection, love, and many other blessings will come to him.
Many people think about physical blessings, and sure those can come:
Matthew 6:33-34 “33 But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Don’t worry about tomorrow, tomorrow will worry about itself! Today has enough tsuris already!” CJB
However, David was looking for more than physical blessings, blessings that no one can take away from him.
Matthew 6:19-21 “19 “Do not store up for yourselves wealth here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and burglars break in and steal. 20 Instead, store up for yourselves wealth in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and burglars do not break in or steal. 21 For where your wealth is, there your heart will be also.” CJB
Many times, David experienced hardship and tribulation and many times, we may experience difficulties, but with Yeshua, we are not alone, Yeshua is there with His shalom (Ephesians 2:14.) He is our counselor (Is 9:6,) He is faithful and true (Rev. 19:11), He is our advocate (1 john 2:1), He is with us (Is 7:14), He gives us freedom (john 8:36,) He is our hope (1 Tim. 1:1,) He is our savior (Luke 2:11.)
Many things are happening in this world, some people are in the hospital, some are grieving because of a death in the family, some are incarcerated, some are being used as human trafficking, some people are stealing and doing evil things, some people are suffering from mental illness, some are contemplating abortion, and some are living life according to God to the best of their ability. All in all, God sees absolutely everything, nothing escapes him whether good or evil. (Proverbs 5:21.)
People that are not walking in His ways will face his wrath instead of his blessings (John 336.)
Why chance it?
We can be like David and pursue joy, fellowship, and unity of His love and mercy.
2 Samuel 7:12-13 “12 When your days come to an end and you sleep with your ancestors, I will establish one of your descendants to succeed you, one of your own flesh and blood; and I will set up his rulership. 13 He will build a house for my name, and I will establish his royal throne forever.” CJB
Those same blessings come down to us because Yeshua is the greatest blessing, we can ever hope for.
When David was persecuted by Saul and everything look difficult and it seemed like he was going to die, God’s plans was ONLY BLESSINGS.
When missionary Gladys Aylward was called by God to go to China from England. And she had to walk with more than 100 children through dangerous roads, where they could have been attacked by wild animals or by enemy soldiers, and going through very difficult situations, God’s plan of ONLY BLESSINGS.
When Naomi in the book of Ruth, lost everything she had, her husband, her two sons, all her finances, Naomi felt so humiliated, like God was against her; she even gave herself a new name which was Marah or bitterness. Naomi was bitter, sad, and felt alone and devastated because she could only see with her eyes; little did she know that God was about to bless her with the only thing that she had left which was Ruth, her daughter in law. You know the story; Naomi became the great grandmother of King David. (Ruth1:20). God had a plan. His plans were ONLY BLESSINGS.
This is how it is in our lives; Yeshua is working behind the scenes, and he has a plan for each one of us. “Plans for shalom and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11.) His plans are ONLY BLESSINGS.
Would you open the door of your life today and let HIM in?
